Steel Mills

EAF (electric arc furnace) at Mini Steel Plants (MSP) and Blast Furnace (BF) at integrated steel plants (ISP) are the two primary technologies of steel production.

There are many dust collection processes at steel plants. Sinter plants are major sources of PM10 / PM2.5 emissions. Typical emissions are around 50 mg/m3. To reduce emissions to less than 20 mg/m3 (as per guidance by IPPC), fabric filters (downstream of ESPs) are recommended. The small size of dust typical of steel industry calls for the careful selection of filter media.

Typical issues at steel plants are high temperatures, high flue gas loads, and flying sparks causing holes in bags.
