Anti-Static Polyester Felt

  • Due to triboelectric effects, static charges from fine dust can buildup on a filter bag surface. Unless these charges decay quickly, arcing may occur and cause a fire, explosion or personal injury.
  • Baghouses handling coal and other combustible fuel are at higher risk.
  • Methods to provide anti-static resistance:
    1. Conductive carbon is blended with the felt fibers (acrylic) after which the blend goes through the felting process. This product has the most uniform conductivity and can pass the Static Decay Test (NFPA 99)
    2. Scrim used for felting has a grid of conductive fibers
    3. Grounding wire is added to the vertical stitching line during the bag manufacturing process
